BHDispatchBot

When it visits

BHDispatchBot visits a website only when the owner of a business that uses BH Dispatch types in that business's own website and checks a box that lets us read it. This happens only during setup, when the owner asks for it, so the app can suggest the jobs they do, the area they serve and their hours.

It never browses the web on its own, and it doesn't come back on a schedule.

What it reads

• •Your robots.txt first. It follows what it says.
• •Up to 12 public pages: the home page, and pages like Services, Service area, About and Contact that the home page links to or your sitemap lists.
• •Only pages on the address the owner gave, and its www twin. It doesn't follow links to other websites.

What it never does

• •It doesn't sign in, fill out or send forms, run JavaScript or keep cookies.
• •It reads at most 2 pages at a time. When your robots.txt sets a Crawl-delay, it reads one page at a time and waits up to 2 seconds between pages.
• •It skips files, shopping carts, sign-in pages and admin pages.
• •We don't keep copies of your pages. The business owner sees what was found, with a short quote from the page each fact came from, and decides what to use. Those quotes are deleted after 30 days.

How to recognize it

Every request it sends carries this user agent:

BHDispatchBot/1.0 (+https://bhdispatch.app/bot)

How to stop it

Add these two lines to your robots.txt:

User-agent: BHDispatchBot
Disallow: /

It reads robots.txt before anything else and reads nothing when it's blocked. If your site has no robots.txt, it reads as described above. If your server fails to answer for robots.txt, it reads nothing. It matches its name in any mix of upper and lower case, and when robots.txt has no lines for it by name, it follows the lines for all robots (User-agent: *).
